Introduction: Arroyave I., Rodelo J., Reino A., Cardona M., Garcia A., Henao J., Mejia G, Rico J. Arbelaez M. Universidad de Antioquia - Hospital Universitario San Vicente de Paul Medelln Colombia S.A. The cardiovascular disease in renal end patients in most common cause of morbimortality. New risks factors have been described like cardiac calcification, this risk increase in these patients because many conditions allow the expression of this cardiac complex disease: hyperparathyroidism, iatrogenic hypocalcaemia, hyperphosphatemia high calcium x phosphorus product and traditional cardiovascular risk hypertension, dyslipidemia, diabetes, hiperuricemia ; . In order to detect silent disease we perform a study of metabolic and radiologic findings of coronary risk in patients under renal replacement therapy. Methods: Methods: 328 patients, under dialysis 145 hem dialysis, 183 peritoneal dialysis ; was screen by serum calcium, serum phosphorus, albumin, parathyroid hormone, 75 of them had at least one abnormal finding, that patient was exam by multidetector tomography with 16 channels. 52% hemodialysis patients. The risk was stratificated by Agaston modified in Group 1: 28 patients Group 2: 1.1 - 100 20 patients Group 3: 101 - 500 13 patients Group 4: 501 - 1000 7 patients Group 5: 1000 7 patients Results: Results: 22.8% patients had at least one risk for calcify cardiovascular disease. 62% had coronary calcification by tomography with 16 channels detected by Agaston modified test. 42% in the group 5 had valvular calcification, Relative risk was higher in older patients more than 65 years, long time in dialysis and higher calcium x phosphorus product ; . 3 patients died during the study by cardiovascular events group 3 all of them ; . One has severe silent heart disease higher Agaston test ; . Two patients achieved kidney transplant without cardiovascular complications Conclusion: Conclusions: Cardiovascular calcifications is a risk factor in dialysis patients and this condition usually is silent, it is important evaluate the heart conditions of this patients in order to perform preventive cardiovascular medicine nutrition, calcium bindings, hormonal supplements ; or therapeutic treatments not for critical events. Diapedesis, 8, 26 and uPA promotes blood CNS barrier breakdown.9 Excessive proteolytic activities of PAs and MMP-9 can be detrimental, leading to disruption of the blood CNS barrier. Measuring ratios of CSF to serum albumin may be a good index to monitor blood-to-CNS-barrier integrity without the use of invasive methods. Yii24 reported that CSF protein levels were higher in patients with A. cantonensis-induced eosinophilic meningitis than in normal individuals. Our previous studies have suggested that the MMP-9 inhibitor GM6001 used as an adjunct to the anthelmintic albendazole significantly inhibited the proteolytic enzyme MMP-9 and decreased eosinophilia in angiostrongyliasis.27 In the present study, the CSF serum albumin ratio and ceftriaxone.

Visit N: Long-term follow-up and monitoring adherence to therapeutic lifestyle changes TLC ; The patient who has achieved the goal LDL cholesterol as a result of TLC must be monitored for the long term. TLC is maintained indefinitely and reinforced by the physician and, as appropriate, by a nutrition professional if medical nutrition therapy is necessary. The patient can be counseled quarterly for the first year of long-term monitoring and twice yearly thereafter. LDL cholesterol is measured prior to each visit, and the results are explained at the counseling session. When no lipoprotein abnormalities other than elevated LDL cholesterol are present, monitoring at 6-month intervals is appropriate. If elevated cholesterol level redevelops, the procedure outlined above for diet therapy of elevated LDL cholesterol should be reinstituted. Persons who fail to achieve their goal LDL cholesterol by dietary therapy can be classified as having an inadequate response to diet. Such responses fall into four categories.

Changes in the crystalline structure of the copolymer poly ethylene-co-vinyl alcohol ; EVOH ; that occurs during the enzymatic fermentation system with the fungus Phanerochaete chrysosoporium were studied. This fungus has a powerful group of oxidative enzymes that had been used for several processes of environmental pollutants degradation. In order to use the enzymatic system of the fungus to improve degradation, films of the copolymer are inoculated and maintained in a solid state fermentation SSF ; system using as substrate a mixture of agroindustrial corn wastes with an initial humidity of 90%, during forty days. Analyses of the films were made at different times of fermentation. The effect on the chemical structure of the polymer was studied by using FTIR-spectroscopy with attenuated total reflection ATR ; and changes in the crystalline structure were determined by differential scan calorimetry DSC and X-ray diffraction technique. The lignin peroxidase LiP ; activity was followed by UV-spectrophotometry. We concluded that after 20 days of fermentation the copolymer has lost 50 percent of the initial crystalline structure. Keywords: poly ethylene-co-vinyl alcohol ; , lignin peroxidase, Phanerochaete chrysosporium, crystalline structure and cellcept.

Fig. 5. Functional evidences of cAMP involvement in the cardiostimulant effects of carteolol and xamoterol. Top, positive inotropic effects of carteolol 10 M ; and xamoterol 10 nM ; were evaluated in electrically driven left atria in the absence and presence of increasing concentrations of IBMX 2 and 10 M ; and were expressed as percentage of increase over the basal values. IBMX was added 20 min before the addition of carteolol or xamoterol. The force of contraction developed in the presence of IBMX was considered the basal force of contraction of atria. Bottom, positive inotropic effects caused by carteolol 10 M ; and xamoterol 1 M ; in guinea pig spontaneously beating atria were assessed in the absence and presence of 50 nM carbachol. The effects of the drugs were expressed as percentage of maximum positive inotropic effect Emax ; caused by 3 M isoprenaline in the same preparations. Carbachol was added to the bathing fluid 20 min before the addition of carteolol or xamoterol. Basal force of contraction was decreased to 10 to 20% by this concentration of carbachol. Results are means S.E.M. from four assays carried out using four different guinea pig hearts. , P 0.05; , P 0.01; , P 0.001 versus values obtained in the absence of IBMX or carbachol and cerivastatin.

Of the greatest interest, extendingf r beyond the borders ofthe country a itself. The Ivory Coast project began with the gradual introduction of television, commencing with the first grade of primary school. In 1968, another country, E Salvador, introduced teaching by television l i secondary school, i e for classes 7 t 9. This experiment is s g infcant because the introduction of instructional television T ; has IV been combined wt a general reform of the school system. In t i context, educational television has clearly acted a a catalyst i the s n reform. The operation seems t have been a success. `Reform classo rooms with ITV, retrained teachers, a revised curriculum, and new materials proved t be a better learning environment than either o traditional classrooms or classrooms wt al elements of the reform ih l except f r television'[ 1 p. 1231. The introduction of ITV has made o 19, it possible t increase considerably the number of students i the o n secondary level without impairing the quality of the teaching, and a t the same cost per student, or even less. Recently, a report on higher education i the United States n expressed the opinion that the development of the technology of communication constituted, i the f e d education, `thefirst great n il technological revolution in five centuries'[181. 1 Thef wexamplestakenfrom these countries showhow the new mass e communication media are slowly entering the f e d education. It il is expected that i the long run they wl completelyrevolutionize o n il the traditionaleducation systems. Thanks t these media, education o is freeing itself from the constraints of t m and space. It is no longer ie confined t the school and taught a certain fixed t m s movement o t ie. away from the school has begun. Since these media are able t transmit knowledge and instruction o t the farthestcorners ofthe earth, is it perhaps possible that education o wl really become common property, available t al ? Universal il o l education seems t be within its grasp. o A the few examples already mentioned go t show, the education s o provided by multimedia systems makes it possible t individualize o learning, gives individuals a free choice of the studies they wish to follow and a sense of responsibility for managing their own education throughout t e r lifetime. In other words, multimedia education hi meets the requirements of real lifelong education. However, the mass communication media are not a `neutral' tool-no educational tool is. A very clearly shown by the experiments s i the Ivory Coast and E Salvador, the introduction of television i n l and caverject.
