In addition to the pre-conference workshop, SEAASWP was the subject of a plenary session at the main conference and also formed the basis for a grouping of seven panel sessions under the headings of Critical Geographies of the Asia-Pacific: Power, Identity and Globalisation, and Agrarian Transitions in Southeast Asia and the Pacific: Environmental Change and Regulation. The Regional Network will establish a website based at the University of Sydney, and it invites participation from geographers either located or interested in the region and the themes it covers. The University of Sydney is providing support through its International Program Development Fund for the first year of SEAASWP's establishment. The next major face-to-face SEAASWP event is the biennial conference of the Southeast Asian Geography Association SEAGA ; 28-30 November 2006. For further information please see seaga.co.nr. For further information and to join the network, please contact Ms Kate Griffiths at kate.griffiths geosci yd .au.
Reasons for dropping out could not be identified since 84% of the subjects rated the health service as good or excellent, 96% received the medication regularly and only 44% showed adverse side effects to medication. Socioeconomic as well as lifestyle variables might have contributed insofar as they may prevent the patient from properly viewing the seriousness of the disease and treatment compliance after early cessation of symptoms in the second month of treatment, when all the subjects dropped out. Health practitioners in the field are therefore urged to pay careful attention to patients with the above described profile in order to reduce non-compliance.

Colorectal cancer is one of the most common malignant tumors; furthermore, its incidence is increasing continuously. HNPCC, genetic colorectal cancer, accounts for about 10% of all colorectal cancer. Compared with sporadic colorectal cancer, HNPCC shows special characteristics associated with its molecular mechanisms and cerivastatin.

Once a suspicious PSA has been identified by value, density, or velocity, a transrectal, ultrasound-guided prostate biopsy is the most accurate technique for identifying prostate cancer. This outpatient procedure is usually performed using local anesthetic injection of the periprostatic nerves and can be done in an office setting. Although transrectal ultrasound typically does not demonstrate specific areas of suspicion, the procedure permits prostate targeting, which allows accurate sampling of all portions of the prostate. For repeat biopsies where initial malignancy is not identified and PSA continues to rise, careful sampling of the transition zone is important to eliminate less common foci of prostate malignancy. Biopsies of the prostate are safe and have a low incidence of morbidity. In a series of more than 5, 800 prostate biopsies, fewer than 0.5% of men required hospitalization; however, only 2.6% of men reported self-limiting hematuria blood in urine ; and occasional 50.4% hematospermia blood in semen ; early following biopsy.25 The diagnosis of prostate cancer, once made through transrectal needle biopsy of the prostate, is graded by histopathology using the previously mentioned Gleason grading system.26 Staging of prostate cancer is performed using the standard TNM system see Table 1 ; . TNM describes the extent of the primary tumor T stage ; , the absence or presence of spread to nearby lymph nodes N stage ; , and the absence or presence of distant spread, or metastasis M stage ; . Staging can be Table 1. performed pre- and post-treatment, and the Clinical TNM Staging of Prostate Cancer most definitive staging occurs following radical T1 Cancer is clinically inapparent, not palpable or visible by imaging prostatectomy. Phenylhydrazine Following descriptions of precautions taken during use, the most appropriate parameters for the use of the EASE model are non-dispersive use with local exhaust ventilation in place. Exposure between 25 and 40 C with these assumptions is predicted to be within the range 2.313.5 mg m3 0.53 ppm ; 8-h time-weighted average ; . Further, as only small quantities are involved, and as extensive containment is provided by the combination of a vessel open only at the bung hole and transfer being achieved by vacuum transfer, exposure will be at the low end of this range i.e., 2.3 mg m3 [0.5 ppm] 8-h timeweighted average ; . In practice, the 8-h time-weighted average exposure will be less than this figure, as the activities involving exposure to phenylhydrazine will take place for only part of the shift. These predicted exposures would be even lower for work carried out in fume cupboards and would be extensively mitigated at the operator by use of respiratory protective equipment; air-fed suits would effectively reduce exposures of these magnitudes to zero. For direct handling and non-dispersive use with a contact level assumed to be incidental from the process descriptions, EASE predicts dermal exposures to range from 0 to 0.1 mg cm2 per day. If direct handling is eliminated, dermal exposure is very low. Again, these exposures would effectively be reduced to zero by adoption of high-quality personal protective equipment and distancing procedures described in this assessment. tion, resulting in the generation of destructive free radicals, which are responsible for subsequent haemolysis e.g., Itano et al., 1975; Valenzuela et al., 1977, 1981; Goldberg et al., 1979; Jain & Hochstein, 1979; Jonen et al., 1982; Hill, 1985; Marks, 1985; Di Cola et al., 1988, 1989; Maples et al., 1988 ; . There is little information available on tissue distribution. There is only one study available that investigates the metabolism and excretion of phenylhydrazine, following oral dosing in rabbits McIsaac et al., 1958 ; . This study shows that phenylhydrazine is extensively metabolized following oral administration, although the complete metabolic pathway has not been characterized. The main reactions identified in this study were hydroxylation of the aromatic ring to p-hydroxyphenylhydrazine, followed by conjugation, probably with glucuronic acid, and production of phenylhydrazones, by reaction with natural keto acids. This study also indicated that the major route of excretion is via the urine. A significant proportion of a single dose was excreted relatively slowly; 50% of the dose was excreted within 4 days of dosing. There are insufficient data to determine whether there is any accumulation of phenylhydrazine in body tissues on repeated exposure.

In 2004, Blood Systems elevated Blood Systems Research Institute BSRI ; to full operating division status, reflecting the importance of research to our organization and to the donors and patients we serve. BSRI began as a research program 45 years ago as a department at our affiliate Blood Centers of the Pacific. It is among the most respected and productive blood center research organizations in the world. The institute is proud to house some of the nation's top transfusion medicine researchers, experts in such transfusion-transmitted infections as human T-cell lymphotropic virus HTLV ; , HCV and HIV, and in emerging infectious diseases like Chagas and West Nile virus. BSRI comprises eight investigators and 25 technical and administrative staff and cerezyme.
